Chief Executive Officer
Steve founded BLM, now Arena Media, in 1990 with a vision to stretch possibilities. Steve takes responsibility for corporate development, new ventures and partnerships. He looks to harness the opportunities created in the emerging media and technology markets for the commercial benefit of all Arena Media clients. Steve has the dubious claim of once flooding an entire hotel.
Paul van Barthold
Chief Operating Officer
Paul joined BLM, now Arena Media, as its first managing director in September 2000. Paul sits on the executive management board and his primary responsibility is for all commercial matters at Arena Media. Paul’s great, great grandfather was a Dutch baron; responsible for running the Dutch East Indian colonies, no less.
Pippa Glucklich
Managing Director
Pippa joined us in 2001 and is responsible for service delivery, talent development, new business and commercial direction within the agency. Pippa is a die-hard Chelsea fan in an all-male household but balances this with her active involvement in WACL.
Pedro Avery
Chief Investment Officer
Pedro joined the company in 1997 and is now Chief Investment Officer, responsible for driving best practice in media trading across all channels and heads up our Trading board. He is an expert in leveraging best value for clients, both On and Offline and has developed a number of ground breaking launch solutions ranging across sponsorships and promotions. Our Pedro has a pilot’s licence.
Henry Daglish
Deputy Managing Director
Henry joined Arena Media in 2006, and as Deputy Managing Director, his main account responsibilities lie within the entertainment media category on the likes of The Mirror Group and ESPN. Henry is averse to holidaying anywhere but Portugal or Cornwall.
David Graham
Head of Digital Strategy
David joined the business to ensure best in class digital thinking is firmly rooted in our strategic planning and client management. He brings with him more than ten years digital experience, having worked both client and agency side on brand- building through to e-commerce and direct response. David’s chocolate lab Baxter is almost as dashing as he is.
Martin Greenbank
Performance Director
As Performance Director, Martin helps our clients access, develop and use the best tools and research in the market and keeps abreast of the latest developments in communication and consumer insight. He sits on the IPA panels tasked with developing best practice with the IPA Touchpoints research. Our ‘Marv’ has swum from Alcatraz Prison to the mainland. Twice.
Sarah Heyworth
Head of Planning
Sarah is the Head of Planning for Arena Media and is responsible for delivering strategic solutions for our clients. Sarah leads the Strategy Hub, consisting of communications planners, data and social media specialists, collaborating to uncover consumer insights which direct our solutions to drive behaviour change. Sarah’s an animal enthusiast and, in an imaginary parallel universe, she runs an animal shelter.
Jo Blake
Head of Press
Jo joined Arena Media in 2007 as Head of Press. Jo is an accredited Business Coach and sits on the ABC and PPA magazines committees. Jo used to perform singing telegrams.
Laura Braithwaite
Client Service Director
Laura has over 16 years planning experience and her key area of responsibility is account management; she prides herself on the delivery of excellent client service. Adept at multi-tasking, she can often be found exercising on Wandsworth Common at 5.30am.
Ed Cox
Joint Head of Digital
Ed is responsible for driving our digital capabilities and service and implementing digital best practice throughout the different agency teams. Ed was previously our Client Services Director, and prior to joining Arena Media in 2008 he was Head of Interactive at media consultants Billetts. Ed still doesn't know how to sew on a button.
James Gyngell
Joint Head of Digital
Jim joined the Arena Media team in 2008. His role covers all key trading negotiations and contracts for online media, third party services, technology and production. Jim also oversees the development of Emerging Channels. Jim has an ugly dog called Rocky.
Paul Bennett
Head of Arena Quantum
Paul is Head of Arena Quantum; the digital consultancy that supports both client and the wider agency with elevated thinking and solutions across digital. Paul has extensive knowledge of web technologies and, specialising in E-Commerce, he has engaged many of Arena's clients into integrated programmes; including Tesco Bank, Domino's Pizza and Thomas Cook - winning numerous industry awards. Paul can still solve the Rubik's Cube.
Jeff Taylor
Managing Director of Azure
Having built a reputation as a Toy industry expert, Jeff fulfilled an ambition to run an agency specialising in the children’s market when he launched BLM Azure (now Arena Azure) in 2002. Since launching, Azure has established itself as the No.1 specialist in the Toys & Games market, with a client portfolio that accounts for approximately 1 of every 6 toy commercials on TV. Jeff has a phobia of tortoises.
Justin Gibbons
Head of Consumer Behaviour
Justin joined Arena Media in January 2011 as Head of Behavioural Economics, responsible for integrating behavioural economics into the Arena Media planning process. Previously Justin founded Work; a company which works with Media Owners to bring new academic thinking to bear on their research challenges. Prior to this, he was Director of Strategic Devices at PHD. Justin was once a soft metal DJ.
Damian Healey
Group Head of Technology, Havas
Damien leads media technology strategy across the Havas media agencies. His remit is to ensure that our clients are able to benefit from the explosive progress of ad delivery, targeting, tracking, and data technologies. Damien has over 13 years digital media experience, with a career focus on media technology and digital advertising operations. Damien was born in Papua New Guinea, and knows how to say "Three Little Pigs" in Pidgin English.
Gary Greasby
Finance Director
Gary joined Arena Media in July 2011 as Finance Director. Gary is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years commercial experience in the advertising, distribution and healthcare sectors. Gary is responsible for leading the finance function, driving financial strategy and ensuring the leadership team have the financial support they need to make decisions on a timely and well-informed basis. Gary opened the bat to Dermot Reeve in a pre season cricket friendly at uni.
Nick Wilsdon
Head of SEO
Nick relocated back from Moscow this year to join Arena Media as Head of SEO. With 10 years industry experience pushing SEO best practices, he is passionate about campaign integration across media channels and improving blended ROI for clients. At Arena, Nick is responsible for delivering data-driven SEO campaigns which focus on measurable results. Nick worked in Moscow for 7 years, becoming an expert on the Russian search industry.
Andrew Cockburn
Head of Local
Andrew joined Arena Media in 2004 from Carat, where he’d been working on the regional requirements of retail clients such as Specsavers and Renault. After gaining valuable experience at Arena across leading national advertisers, such as Haven Holidays, in 2009 he moved into a new role at the agency. He now leads the team that looks after clients with regional specific requirements, in including David Lloyd, TK Maxx and HobbyCraft. Andrew was part of a local Cub team that won a County Craft Making competition. (Aged 9.)
Sam McCormick
Head of TV
Sam joined Arena Media in April 2006 and now heads up the TV department, overseeing the TV planning and buying output across all clients within the agency. Her media career spans back to 1999, when she worked on clients such as Unilever and Tesco before joining the Arena team. Sam was once asked by Metallica to move to LA to run their fan club. Despite knowing nothing about the band or their music.
Nate Norrish
Head of 247 Social
Nate Norrish hails from Melbourne, Australia and brings with him over 6 years experience in Digital; from planning and trading to strategy and, more recently, as Head of Social at OMD. His key industry experience includes travel, government, finance, retail and entertainment. He joined the team to bring experience of fusing digital and traditional strategies into social thinking. Nate once released 300 sheep from a truck - to roam the streets to freedom.
Chris Armond
Group Business Director
Chris heads up Arena's dedicated Travel team. He has over 14 years experience of working within the travel sector in sales, marketing and agency roles. Chris provides management and leadership of the team and is responsible for ensuring the team is at the forefront of innovation in the sector. Chris considers himself to be the modern-day metrosexual male, having played in the first ever football match refereed by a woman.
Nicola Harvey
GROUP BUSINESS DIRECTOR - DIRECT BUSINESS
Nicola’s role at Arena Media is to ensure optimum delivery of results via business driving media solutions. Nicola spends a lot of time with clients understanding their results and customer data to fuel insight and future media plans, having worked across a number of DR centric clients in her career. More recently Nicola is the proud Mum of a new baby girl, Harriet.
Elkie Brooks
MARKETING & PRODUCTION MANAGER
Elkie is responsible for Arena's marketing and productions. Prior to joining Arena, Elkie was a Marketing Manager at Warner Music's 14th Floor Records - managing artists including Biffy Clyro, Damien Rice and The Wombats. Unknown to many, Elkie happens to be highly adept at mirror writing writing mirror. See what we did there?
Danielle Murphy
NEW BUSINESS & MARKETING MANAGER
Danielle is one of Arena's longest serving members of staff and is the agency's primary contact for new business and PR requirements. In her spare time, Danielle runs a small company renting out vintage crockery for weddings.
