Fresh Impressions on Brandmarks
Do you remember the first time you saw famous logos, from brands like McDonalds, Pepsi or Puma? I didn’t think so… Nowadays we’re bombarded with advertisements and brands every day, so that’s difficult to try having a fresh vision of what they mean and feel to us, like you’ve never saw them before.
So I really enjoyed seeing this viral video from a 5-year-old girl identifying top Brand logos.
The video already had more than 1 million views in 10 days and it was a “fun Sunday project” between Adam Ladd from Cincinnati (who works in the logo design business) and his daughter, Faith.
It’s interesting to see her thinking that some of those popular logos resemble colourful objects like beach balls and marbles. And, although she knows some of the logos, like Disney and Starbucks (“that is the coffee logo”), others remind her of “a parade elephant” (Republican Party), a “M made out of fries” (McDonalds) or cheetah’s (Puma, Jaguar, Greyhound).
This reveals how much children are impacted by advertising, even for brands aiming to a more grown up audience and how some logos can be misleading.
After all, there is a lot to learn from kids!
